Sewing 101

Our courses cover a range of topics including how to use a sewing machine and machine basics. How to read a pattern and how to select fabric. We also teach on learning seams, stitches, machine trouble shooting as well as sewing projects. Some of the skills our members will learn backpacking, corners, curves, zippers, trim, linings, bindings, installing handles, hand stitching, tailoring, seam allowances and finishing.

Designers learn how to create the hoodies, basic t-shirts, and sacks while learning machine and sewing basics. This introductory three hour class is for students of all skill levels. Bring you and your friends and be ready to learn:

+ How to thread & use a sewing machine + Basic machine stitches

+ How to work with cotton fabric, polyester + Construct a garment from pattern pieces + Choose fabric colors, ribbing and graphics + Learn and have fun with design

IAAWA Group will also be partnering with Stormy Weather Designs where she will be teaching students to sew and construct prom dress garments.
